BBQ, Sushi, Fries, & Breakfast.

Alway sorry for the lack of carrying a camera with me.

Phil's BBQ
3750 Sports Arena Blvd.
San Diego, CA 92110

Went to go visit a good friend a couple weekends ago in good ol' San Diego with the boyfriend and friends. I haven't been to this city for a good three years and I forgot how chill and relaxing it is there. We hit up a few bars in the Gaslamp District while there and of course Phil's BBQ on the way home.  Anything that is Man vs. Food worthy I am there.  The line when we got there was way out the door but the wait went by super fast (plus they gave us Otter Pops while waiting which made it even more awesome).  While in line you are given time to figure out what to order with menus posted everywhere.  Phil's offers the usual BBQ necessities: pork, beef, chicken, sandwiches, and bomb sides. The beef rib and baby back rib meals were the common orders among the group of us.  The prices are your typical BBQ prices and you definitely get what you pay for.  Serving sizes are straight out of an episode of "The Flinstones."

Sushi Takumi
1651 W. Foothill Blvd.
Upland, CA 91786

Whenever I hear All You Can Eat anything of anything of my favorite foods of course I'm there.  In this case, sushi.  Went to Sushi Takumi in Upland last week with a couple of co-workers for their all you can eat menu and I was not disappointed.  For $20 you can choose from an assortment of rolls and appetizers.  If only all you can drink sake bombs was included...a girl can dream.  Be sure to follow your mother's advice as a kid though to always finish your food because there is a charge for food that is not eaten.

Shrimp Boats

Cherry Blossom Roll (spicy crab meat wrapped with tuna topped w/ avocado & spicy mayo)

Green Mussels & Energy Roll (eel & tuna)

Bay Island Roll (California Roll topped with baked scallops)

Frysmith Truck
Everywhere but tasted at My Delight Cupcakery

Stopped by the My Delight Cupcakery Sunday Social a few weeks back and got to try the infamous FrySmith Truck.  Known for topping either regular fries or sweet potato fries with delicious toppings, FrySmith is definitely one truck that is worth trying.  I tried the Rajas Fries which is "fire-roasted poblano chiles, caramelized onions and shawarma-marinated steak with Jack cheese" over regular fries. Pretty bomb.  They advise you to eat right away which they didn't have to tell me twice. Just think of your usual drunken carne asada fries but with class.

Guasti Homestyle Cafe
13526 Central Avenue
Chino, CA 91710

Had to finish off the past Labor Day weekend with some good food, so with the craving of breakfast food in our stomaches the boyfriend and I decided to try out Guasti Homestyle Cafe in Chino.  I've seen pics from friends of their massive sized pancakes and huge servings and it occurred to me "why the eff haven't I been there yet?"  Right off the bat when you see Guasti Cafe you can tell it wasn't always a restaurant.  Very simple ambiance with picnic style table cloths and coffee mugs you would see in your grandma's house from every city she's been too.  Don't let the simplicity fool you though because the food here is full of flavor and servings are outrageous.  I ordered the Guasti Skillet which has 5 scrambled eggs, every meat they have, and some veggies over a bed of hash browns with a side of biscuits and gravy.  The boyfriend got the pancake combo which comes with two pancakes, eggs, and sausage or bacon.  I've never been so excited but scared for our food to come.  Looking around at the other tables where they were sharing one order of pancakes & skillets among 7 people just made us even more scared.  But for as much as we ordered the prices are incredible.  Our meals could've easily fed 5 or more people or even us 2 for a few more meals and for only $20. I'll for sure be seeing this place again.
